Linn Records' long-standing partnership with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra has yielded a series of compelling and captivating recordings.   Conductors Joseph Swensen and Sir Charles Mackerras expertly lead the orchestra to some outstanding performances.   Exploring the repertoire of Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Prokofiev, Brahms and Dvorák, Swensen combines his considerable skills as a solo violinist with his role as director.   International Record Review said of his performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto, “Swensen is a player of real distinction”.   Grammy nominee Sir Charles Mackerras directs his first recording of Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion & Celeste, and, using the lesser known Levin edition, delivers a dazzling Mozart Requiem.

The Orchestra's dynamic relationship with Joseph Swensen continues to develop and, with both Swensen and Conductor Laureate Sir Charles Mackerras, the Orchestra pushes the boundaries of conventional chamber orchestra repertoire, performing symphonic repertoire which was written for smaller orchestras than those usually heard performing it today.   The SCO tours regularly in the Far East, Europe and the USA and has performed in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Sweden and Hong Kong.
