Artur Pizarro

CKD225

Artur Pizarro launches the second half of his cycle of Beethoven sonatas at St John's, Smith Square, all broadcast on BBC Radio 3, on the 16th of October 2003.   To coincide with this, Linn records release a second disc with him. Beethoven's last three sonatas mark a culmination in the classico-romantic sonata form, and Beethoven's farewell to the genre.

Artur Pizarro's career has gone from strength to strength in the past few years.   Renowned for his lyrical poeticism and outstanding virtuosity, Artur Pizarro won the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1990 and will be presenting this years competition for the BBC on Radio 3 and BBC 4.

Artur Pizarro has elected to use a Blüthner concert grand piano, model 1.   Artur Pizarro explained, “That's because it's more nimble than a normal 20th-century grand, more transparent in texture.   I wanted something ridiculously expressive, something different and old-fashioned.”
