The original Beethoven Pastoral LP was hailed by the critics:
Music lovers generally will find one of the most beautifully played and superbly recorded Pastoral symphony LPs on the market. The articulation of the woodwinds is exquisite, the tone of the generally dull-toned NBC Orchestra comes to blooming life under Stokowski's hand. In the 'Sounds of Nature', Stokowski tells how well Beethoven depicted nature sounds, birds calls and the like, then gives an illustration of the actual sounds those who like spoken musical commentary with illustrations will find this very interesting - and no-one is better at it than Stokowski.
The New Records
